RECORD AND LISTEN

With that step completed, it is time to move on to the next task which is the Record & Listen draft.

In this section, you are going to record yourself reading your book at a normal pace. Listen to the recording and listen for clunky word choices, places where you stumbled, and strange word choices.

After you make changes to your story, record yourself again and correct any other details that stand out to you.

YOU CAN DO this as many as two times, but two times is all you get. You are not going to drag your feet on this project now. Not when you’ve come this far!

DAY FIVE SESSION TWO

  1. Ready your completed book map

  2. Read the story in your regular voice and at a regular pace

  3. Listen to the recording and make adjustments as needed

Tips: Imagine you are reading the book to a child to make the pacing more realistic.
