I love the airport.

I love how, regardless of the fact that the gate isn't moving, we all go and check to make sure the gate is there before we seek out the cleanest stall in the restroom.

I really love how getting a new book in the airport feels different than it does any other time in your life.

You will go into the bookstore that has all the same books as every other bookstore in every other airport, and somehow come out feeling like you found a treasure - like the books that are in there were specifically curated for you and your interest.

We should note that the fact that we all feel that way about the airport bookstores, lets us know how much we have in common with one another.

Every time I'm in an airport I feel like I'm in a movie about a girl in an airport going someplace extraordinary.

Somehow, being in an airport doesn't feel like real life. It's out of the ordinary every time even if you go to the airport often, there is always some sort of newness to the experience.

There are things you can count on, obviously. Things like you can count on someone on the airplane, trying to put a bag into the overhead compartment that's way too big. You can count on someone going to the restroom. As soon as the fasten, your seatbelt light goes off. You can also count on things like there being one person who coughs the entire flight.

Even with all of these usual occurrences, though, the airport in the airplane itself, or just magical. You can be in a terrible state. You could be depressed, going through a breakup, experiencing the loss of a loved one, and go to the airport to take care of business in another state and feel a small sense of adventure. A reminder that you are alive.

It's a magical place, the airport.

I’ve been trying all morning to articulate my thoughts and feelings around protesting, the news, and everything else.

No. 50 - Sunday Dispatch
I’ve been on a quest for a tiny sliver of local adventure, because grand adventure is not available at the moment.
