Hello friends,
We are nearing the end of March, and that thing happened to me that happened to all of the adults in my life when I was younger - I looked at the calendar and was shocked. I actually thought, “Where did March go?!”
I did that thing that I hate - I let the time pass without noticing. Let’s make a deal, you and me. Let’s not let that happen at all or, at least, not often. Okay?

🐓 The Knife & Needle - Some of you may already know this, but I grew up in the middle of nowhere, Tennessee, on a chicken farm. Because of this, I have a limited, albeit more extensive than the average person, understanding of raising chickens.
Because I still live and work in Tennessee, I speak to farmers and homesteaders on a regular basis. Tennessee has seen an uptick in new residents seeking a simpler (HAHAHAHHA) way of life. Part of that simpler (HAHAHAHA) way of life includes raising chickens.
I got tired of hearing people complain about how their hens weren’t laying in the winter, so I wrote this article -
It was either write the article or start slapping people.
It’s okay to be new at something. It is NOT okay to forget the thing you are collecting your eggs from is alive and has a hormonal cycle from which you are benefiting.
Raise chickens responsibly, people. That’s all I ask.
