No. 26
Hello friends,
Over the years, I’ve made finding my writing content complicated. I’ve directed you away from this blog, my personal log, to websites, Facebook groups, and other blogs.
I did this because I have a fear of being pigeonholed as a children’s book writer.
I fear this because I tend to write quite sarcastically and use mature language when appropriate in my other writing.
Despite the common advice to keep blogs and social media accounts specific and targeted for success, I was uncomfortable with being known solely as a children's book writer. The thought of someone stumbling upon my narrative non-fiction work and being horrified was unbearable.
I want people to know what they are in for: a personal blog written by someone who happens to be a published author in several genres, with her most well-known works being in the children’s book sector.
I could write on and on about this, but instead, I will tell you this: I will be writing about the joy and craft of writing on this blog going forward.
And, good news - For those of you who are here just for the posts on writing, you can now go directly to the writing bits by visiting the On Writing section, which is easily accessed in the menu.
In this section, I will post personal experiences in writing, tips on writing, book and workshop recommendations, and I may even reinstitute the author interview posts from my children’s book blog days.
Another thing that some of you may appreciate going forward is that you can subscribe to the On Writing section exclusively.
I hope this helps all of you who have stumbled upon my courses and want a place to continue the conversation about and exploration of writing.
Until next time, friends,
B.A. Burgess
